The Fort Bend County Housing Finance Corporation recently announced a $2,000 Down Payment Assistance Grant Program for individuals purchasing a home within Fort Bend County, Texas. The program is to be used in conjunction with the Mortgage Credit Certificate Program (MCC Program) and is available on a first-come fist-serve basis. Funds are limited and only available to those who obtain financing and sign up for the Down Payment Assistance Program through HomeWay Mortgage or another participating lender. The $2,000 Grant is sent directly to closing on the homebuyer's behalf and is used to help cover closing costs.

 Participation in the Fort Bend County Down Payment Assistance Program is restricted to homebuyers with a household income of $76,560 for families of 2 or less and $89,320 for families of 3 or more with a maximum home purchase price of $316,177. As a result of Hurricane Rita, the federal government has designated this Fort Bend County a part of the Rita GO Zone and therefore the Down Payment Assistance Program is available to everyone who qualifies, not just first-time homebuyers.
